Indonesia is a country which is full of traditional culinary and typical drinks. Each area has an identical food or beverage of their respective regions. If Java community is famous for its traditional herbal medicine as a healthy drink, Betawi people also have herbal drink called Beer Pletok as inheritance of the colonial era preceding drink. Beer Pletok begun firstly among the Betawi people when the Dutch officials have always celebrated party with some Beer. The Dutch habit whom people always drink Beer make Indonesian strong people called Jawara, did not want to miss. Then, Indonesian Jawara created a drink called Beer pletok and not alcoholic, especially healthful for those who drink it.
Beer called "Pletok" because the manufacturing process in a boiling hot water conditions. Spices consisting of a mixture of red ginger, fragrant pandan leaves, and lemongrass cooked in a pot to be boiled. To make the color of drink more attractive, Betawi people using additional wooden cup, which will give a red color when brewed with hot water. When the first time produced not using glass of bottle, but put inside the bamboo. Red ginger water that content hot extract make float to the surface and make voice "pletok-pletok" when poured into bamboo. Then called Beer pletok.
Although the name Beer Pletok, but not alcoholic because it is made of traditional herbs spices Red Ginger, Wood Secang, Cardamom, Cloves, Cinnamon, Citronella and sugar. Fresh and healthy herbal drink. Can be served with warm water or cold water. After a cup of Bir Pletok our body will feel warm and fresh.
